How a Smug Billionaire Tried to Ruin My Navy Career and Lost Everything
Previously: Lieutenant Commander Sarah stood in a decorated courtroom, facing her corrupt ex-husband who wanted to strip her of her rank and daughter. He thought he had won—until she spoke.
The Trap is Sprung
The courtroom erupted into a flurry of whispers. Robert’s smug expression instantly vanished, replaced by a dark, dangerous scowl. He sat upright, his fingers tightening around the edge of his table. Sarah did not waste a single second. She opened her leather folder and presented a certified military satellite log to the bailiff, who handed it up to the judge.
Sarah explained that the encrypted data leak had been traced to a civilian IP address registered to Robert's private Maryland estate, at a time when she was deployed in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. "The security breach was launched from your own home, Robert," Sarah said, her voice echoing off the high ceilings. "You framed me to cover your own company's illegal data trading."

Robert’s face turned pale, but he was a man who always had a backup plan. He stood up, knocking his chair back with a loud scrape. "Your Honor, this is a desperate fabrication!" Robert yelled. "She is mentally unstable! We have certified psychiatric evaluations proving she suffers from severe, delusional PTSD. She is a danger to herself and unfit to care for our daughter!"
His attorney quickly handed a thick stack of medical files to the judge. The judge’s brow furrowed as he scanned the documents, which bore the official seal of the naval medical center. Sarah’s chest tightened. Robert had bribed a corrupt military doctor to forge these files, a move designed to completely destroy her credibility.
The judge looked up, his face grim. "Lieutenant Commander, these allegations are severe. If these medical records are authentic, I will have no choice but to suspend your clearance and award temporary custody to the father."
Sarah looked toward the back of the courtroom. The heavy brass handle of the double doors began to turn. "They aren't authentic, Your Honor," Sarah said calmly. "And the man who can prove it just walked in."
