Previously: Arthur thought he was celebrating the biggest night of his career. Instead, his closest allies staged a public betrayal that left him ruined on a cold rooftop terrace.

A Different Kind of Justice

As the gala reached its peak, Sienna and Clara took the stage to address the wealthy crowd. They spoke eloquently of integrity, leadership, and the bright future of the company. Behind them, a massive projection screen displayed the firm’s logo. Arthur quietly slipped into the technical booth, nodding to the federal agents he had contacted earlier. They stood ready in the wings, waiting for his signal.

With a steady hand, Arthur plugged his drive into the master console and bypassed the presentation playlist. Instantly, the elegant corporate graphics on the screen vanished. In their place, the entire room was confronted with the raw server logs, the IP addresses, and a recorded conversation between Sienna and Clara detailing how they had framed Arthur.

The ballroom fell into a suffocating silence. Sienna froze mid-sentence, her face draining of color as she looked back at the giant screen. Clara stumbled backward, her eyes wide with terror as whisperings turned into gasps of horror. Before they could flee, federal officers stepped onto the stage, presenting warrants for their arrest.

Arthur stepped out of the shadow of the tech booth, adjusting his collar. He walked slowly down the center aisle, meeting Sienna’s desperate, pleading eyes. For a moment, he felt the urge to gloat, to make them feel the exact pain they had inflicted on him. But as he looked at them being led away in handcuffs, he realized that revenge was a hollow prize. The anger that had fueled him for days suddenly evaporated, leaving only a profound sense of peace.

He walked out of the ballroom and into the cool night air, leaving his old life behind. He had cleared his name, but he no longer wanted a place in their toxic world. He would build something new, something honest, far away from the shadows of betrayal.

Sometimes, the best way to reclaim your power is not by winning the game, but by choosing to walk away from the board entirely.
