My Husband Laughed When I Fell, So I Served Him Divorce Papers at Our Reception
Previously: When Amanda fell from her chair at her own wedding, her groom didn't help her—he laughed. She wiped her tears, took off her ring, and welcomed a surprise guest.
The Uninvited Guest
Charles, my family’s trusted attorney, walked straight to the head table, ignoring the whispering guests. Matthew scoffed, trying to regain his composure. "Amanda, what is the meaning of this? Why is there a lawyer at our wedding reception?" he demanded, though his voice trembled slightly.
Elizabeth stood up, her emerald dress rustling. "This is absurd! Get this man out of here. Amanda, you are making a complete fool of yourself. You have nothing, and you brought a lawyer to intimidate us?" she sneered, gesturing to the security guards near the entrance.

"Actually, Mrs. Vance, it is your family that is in a very precarious position," Charles said calmly, opening his briefcase.
He pulled out a thick manila folder and laid it on the table right next to my discarded wedding ring. "I am here to serve Matthew with divorce papers, effective immediately, alongside a lawsuit for fraud and grand larceny."
The room went so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Matthew's face drained of all color. "What... what are you talking about?" he stammered.
Charles took out a set of high-resolution photographs and spread them across the table. They showed Matthew in intimate situations with his administrative assistant, dated just three days prior. "We have undeniable proof of infidelity. According to the prenuptial agreement Matthew signed, any infidelity nullifies his claim to any joint assets, and requires him to reimburse Amanda’s family for the entirety of this wedding."
"That's impossible!" Elizabeth shrieked, looking at the photos in horror. "My son would never!"
"But that is not the most severe charge," Charles continued, his voice echoing through the hall. "We have also discovered that Matthew forged Amanda’s signature to withdraw three hundred thousand dollars from her late father's trust fund to cover his own personal business debts. We have the bank records, the signature analysis, and the police are already on their way."
Matthew sank back into his chair, his eyes wide with sheer terror. He looked at me, his lip trembling, realizing his entire life was about to collapse.
