The flatline sound filled the sterile room like a death knell. Rachel fell to her knees, clutching the edge of the gurney, her world shattering into a million pieces. Just then, the door swung open, and David walked in with his wealthy new girlfriend, Chloe. He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Rachel, his face flushing with immediate rage.

"What are you doing here, Rachel? Get out of here!"

David hissed, stepping forward to grab her arm. But Rachel pushed him back, her eyes flashing with maternal fury.

"You signed away your rights, Rachel. This baby belongs to me and Chloe."

Suddenly, Nurse Vivian stood between them, tears streaming down her face.

"David, stop it! The baby’s heart stopped because of what you made Dr. Sterling do!"

she yelled, exposing the dark truth. She turned to Rachel.

"David paid the doctor to administer a dangerous drug to the surrogate to delay the birth until the divorce papers were finalized. It was supposed to be safe, but it caused a massive respiratory arrest."

Rachel gasped, looking at Dr. Sterling, who was trembling violently. He couldn't even look her in the eye. Before David could deny the accusations, Vivian pulled a syringe from her pocket. She knew it was a high-risk medication that could save the baby, but doing so without official approval would cost her her career.

"I won't let this baby die for your greed, David,"

Vivian whispered. She plunged the needle into the baby's IV line just as three security guards burst into the room, grabbing Rachel by the arms to drag her away.
