Previously: When nineteen-year-old Chase stops to help a crashed biker on a foggy road, a worn photograph in the stranger's pocket reveals a dark family secret that changes everything.

A Shocking Revelation

As Chase continued to apply pressure to the wound, his fingers brushed against a worn, laminated photograph sticking out of Ryder's vest pocket. Curious, Chase pulled it out. His heart stopped. It was a picture of his mother as a young woman, holding a newborn baby. On the back, in faded handwriting, were the words: "My beautiful boy, Chase. I will find my way back to you." Chase stared at the photo, his mind racing as a tidal wave of realization crashed over him. He looked down at the injured biker, his voice shaking.

"Who are you? Where did you get this?" Chase demanded.

Ryder looked up, tears finally spilling down his cheeks.

"I'm your father, Chase," he gasped. "I never wanted to leave you. Your grandfather... he gave me a choice between prison or running away. He framed me. But I've spent nineteen years fighting to clear my name so I could finally see you."

Before Chase could process the shocking truth, the beam of powerful headlights pierced through the fog. A sleek, black luxury SUV pulled up on the shoulder. Out stepped Chase's grandfather, Arthur, a wealthy and influential man who had ruled their small town for decades. Arthur’s face was cold as he looked down at the scene, followed by his burly personal driver.

"Step away from him, Chase," Arthur commanded coldly. "He is a common criminal who abandoned his family. We are going to make sure he never bothers us again."

Chase stood up, stepping directly between his grandfather's driver and his injured father. For the first time, Chase saw his grandfather not as a protector, but as a manipulator.

"I know the truth now," Chase said, his voice steadying. "He didn't abandon us. You drove him away. And I won't let you hurt him again."
