Previously: When Jessica stopped her sister's wedding to expose a cheating groom, she didn't expect to run into her first love—or that throwing her bouquet at him would unleash a family secret.

A Second Chance at Sunset

Ryan unfolded the yellowed piece of paper and handed it directly to Jessica. It was indeed a check for fifty thousand dollars, signed by her father, dated five years ago. But across the front of the check, written in bold, permanent marker, was the word: VOID. On the back, Ryan had written a message to her father that he had never sent: "My love for Jessica cannot be bought."

"I never cashed it, Jessica," Ryan said, his voice thick with emotion. "Your father threatened to destroy my family's small business using his political connections if I didn't leave town. I took the check only to make him think he had won, so he would leave my parents alone. But I kept it to prove the truth to you one day."

Jessica stared at the paper, tears blurring her vision. All the anger, the grief, and the resentment of the last five years melted away, replaced by a profound wave of relief. She looked up at her father, who was suddenly speechless, his face pale as his web of lies collapsed. Just then, Chloe stepped out of the church, having heard everything. Realizing the depth of their father's manipulation, Chloe walked past him, refusing to look at him, and wrapped Jessica in a tight embrace.

The wedding was ruined, but the family was finally free from a lifetime of deception. Richard and Marcus slunk away into the shadows, defeated and exposed. Under the fading golden light of the parish, Jessica turned back to Ryan. He was still holding the white orchid bouquet, a soft smile finally returning to his face. She stepped close to him, her hand reaching out to touch his arm. "I think you caught the bouquet for a reason," she whispered. Sometimes, the most beautiful beginnings rise directly from the ashes of a spectacular disaster.
