Previously: When Lauren walked onto the desert shooting range, the instructor thought she was a helpless amateur. But she had seven bullets, a dark secret, and one chance to save her family.

The Hidden Ultimatum

With three more rapid, flawless shots, Lauren dismantled the remaining targets, leaving the spectators in stunned silence. Chris stared at her, his professional skepticism completely shattered. But before he could ask her where she had learned to shoot like a sniper, his tactical radio crackled to life, followed by the sharp chime of his personal phone. He pulled the device from his pocket, his brow furrowing as he read the message. Slowly, the color drained from his face.

Lauren lowered the rifle, her eyes locking onto him.

"Who sent that?"
she asked, her voice dropping to a whisper. Chris looked up, his hands visibly shaking.
"How do you know my daughter's name?"
he stammered, holding the screen out to her. On it was a photo of his young daughter, handcuffed in a dark, concrete room, sitting next to Lauren's own missing daughter, Lily.

The text message underneath read: *'The mother passed the test. Now, both of you bring the rifle to the abandoned canyon mine. No police, or they both die.'* Lauren felt a cold dread settle in her chest. The arrogant instructor wasn't just a bystander; he had been targeted to lure her here. The mastermind behind Lily's abduction had orchestrated this entire display to verify Lauren's legendary shooting skills before using her for a much darker purpose.

"They've been watching us,"
Chris whispered, looking frantically around the empty desert hills.
"My wife said she was taking our girl to the park this morning. Oh my god, Lauren, what did you do to bring this on us?"
Lauren gripped the rifle tighter.
"I didn't bring this on anyone,"
she said fiercely.
"But we have three bullets left, and we are going to get our girls back."
