After finishing her warm meal, Haley was surprised when Kevin stepped outside to join her. He introduced himself with a warm, gentle smile that immediately put her at ease. As they spoke, Haley found herself opening up about the nightmare her life had become. Her husband, Marcus, had thrown her out onto the street the moment he discovered she was pregnant, claiming he wanted nothing to do with the responsibility of a child.

Moved by her tragic story, Kevin revealed that he owned a local property management company. He offered Haley a safe, warm, and vacant apartment rent-free until she could get back on her feet. For the next two months, Haley lived in comfort, preparing for the arrival of her baby. Kevin visited regularly, bringing groceries, baby clothes, and much-needed emotional support. For the first time in a long time, Haley felt safe.

But that peace was violently shattered just weeks before her due date. A loud, aggressive knock sounded at her apartment door. Expecting Kevin, Haley opened it only to find Marcus standing on the threshold, a sneer plastered across his face. He pushed his way into the apartment, followed by a man in a sharp business suit.

"So, this is where my pathetic wife has been hiding," Marcus mocked, looking around. "Living in luxury off some rich guy's charity. I'm not going to let you use my child to extort money from your new boyfriend."

Before Haley could defend herself, Marcus threw a thick manila folder onto the kitchen counter.

"This is my lawyer," Marcus sneered, pointing to the man beside him. "We are going to sue you for full custody the moment that baby is born. We'll prove you're an unfit mother who relies on handouts."

Haley felt the room spin, panic rising in her throat. Just then, the front door swung open, and Kevin walked in. Recognizing the threat immediately, Kevin stepped between Marcus and the terrified pregnant woman.
