Previously: After a horrific accident left her legs in casts, Megan gave birth to twins, only for her ruthless mother-in-law to arrive with a shocking ultimatum that threatened her family.

The depth of the betrayal cut deeper than any physical wound.

Megan stared at the legal documents, her hands shaking so violently she could barely turn the pages. There it was, in bold black ink: David’s signature. Her husband of three years, the man she had built a life with, had signed away their children to his domineering mother. The realization hit her like a physical blow, leaving her breathless. Helen stood over her, an imposing figure of malice, enjoying every second of Megan's despair.

"You see, Megan, my late husband left a massive trust fund for his first grandchildren," Helen explained, her voice dripping with smug satisfaction. "But there was a catch. The money only unlocks if I have full legal guardianship. David and I couldn't let a middle-class nobody like you stand in the way of our family's fortune."

Megan felt a chill run down her spine. The sudden brake failure on her car, the black SUV that had relentlessly pursued her on the highway—it hadn't been an accident at all. "You tried to kill me," Megan whispered, the horrifying truth dawning on her. "You and David planned the crash."

"Prove it," Helen sneered, sliding a heavy silver pen into Megan’s trembling hand. "Sign the papers, or I will make sure you are committed to a psychiatric ward. You will never see these children again."

Megan looked at her innocent twins, then back to Helen. In her desperation, her eyes caught a small green light on the wall unit behind Helen’s shoulder. It was the baby monitor, linked directly to the nurses’ station downstairs, and the intercom button she had accidentally bumped earlier was glowing. It was active. Her heart hammered against her ribs. She needed Helen to say more. She needed a full confession broadcasted to the entire hospital wing.

"So, David was in on the crash too?" Megan asked, forcing her voice to sound weak and defeated. "He wanted me dead just for the money?"

Helen laughed, a cold, dry sound. "David did exactly what I told him to do. He disabled your brakes himself. Now, sign the papers, Megan. Your time is up."
