Previously: On my wedding day, my mother-in-law cornered me and tore my gown, thinking no one would believe me. She didn't realize the entire kitchen was being recorded.

The Ultimate Ultimatum

The silence in the kitchen was heavy, broken only by the sound of my quiet sobbing. Helen’s eyes darted frantically around the room, searching for an escape. Her carefully constructed facade had crumbled in a matter of seconds, exposed by the very technology she had always dismissed as a middle-class obsession.

But Helen was not a woman to surrender easily. She turned to Nicholas, her voice rising in a desperate attempt to regain control. "Nicholas, don't be naive! This is a setup. She must have edited that video, or used some kind of artificial intelligence to frame me! You know she has always wanted to drive a wedge between us!"

"Mom, stop," Nicholas said, his voice trembling. "It's a live security feed. I installed these cameras myself last week. There is no edit. You did this."

Seeing that her lies were failing, Helen's expression hardened into pure venom. She reached into her designer handbag and pulled out a folded legal document, throwing it onto the marble island. It was the family trust agreement, a multi-million dollar inheritance that Nicholas was slated to receive upon our marriage.

"If you marry this girl, Nicholas, you are dead to this family," Helen threatened, her voice sharp as a blade. "I will sign the disinheritance papers before the sun sets. You will lose your position at the firm, your trust fund, and your status. Choose right now. Your family, or this crying girl on the floor."

I looked up at Nicholas, my heart in my throat. I knew how much his family's legacy meant to him, and how hard he had worked to earn his place in the family business. Helen was holding his entire future hostage, forcing him to choose between love and a lifetime of security.
