The Ruined Gown

The morning of my wedding was supposed to be the happiest day of my life, but standing in the rustic kitchen of my future mother-in-law’s estate, it felt like a horror movie. I was smoothing down the delicate lace of my wedding dress when Eleanor walked in. She was a picture of cold elegance in her emerald green dress, her silver hair perfectly styled, but her eyes held nothing but malice.

Before I could even greet her, Eleanor stepped forward. With a swift, violent motion, she grabbed the lace collar of my gown and ripped it down to the bodice. The sound of tearing fabric echoed in the quiet room like a gunshot.

"You don't belong in this family," Eleanor said, her voice freezing the air between us.

Tears flooded my eyes as I clutched the ruined lace to my chest, trembling on the cold tile floor. I couldn't believe the cruelty of the woman standing before me.

"Please don't do this, you ripped my dress," I sobbed, looking up at her in desperation.

Eleanor merely smirked, her face twisting into a mask of triumph.

"And no one is going to believe you," she replied coldly.

Suddenly, the heavy wooden door swung open and my fiancé, Tyler, rushed in. He looked pristine in his navy blue suit, but his face turned pale as he took in the scene of his sobbing bride and his mother standing over me.

"Mom, what happened here?" Tyler gasped, rushing to my side.

Before Eleanor could spin her lie, I reached into my pocket and tapped a button on my phone. Instantly, the smart TV mounted above the rustic fireplace flickered to life, displaying the live-feed security footage of the kitchen. The screen clearly showed Eleanor lunging at me and tearing my dress.

My own voice echoed from the TV speakers: "I didn't need you to believe me."

Tyler stared at the screen, his face a mask of absolute horror as he turned back to his mother. "What have you done?" he whispered.

I looked up at Eleanor's pale face and whispered, "The cameras."
