Previously: On her wedding day, Emily’s mother-in-law tore her satin dress to shreds, thinking she could blame Emily. But she didn't realize the entire kitchen was being streamed live.

The Confrontation Escalates

Margaret’s face turned an ashen gray as she stared at the television screen. The footage played on a loop, exposing her cruelty in high definition. She tried to stammer an excuse, her usual poise completely vanishing. "David, sweetheart, it’s not what it looks like. She set me up!" she cried, reaching out to touch his arm. But David flinched away from her touch as if she were venomous.

"I saw it with my own eyes, Mom," David said, his voice shaking with a mixture of anger and deep betrayal.

"You ruined Emily’s dress. You lied to me. How could you do something so malicious on our wedding day?"

Realizing her lies were useless, Margaret’s demeanor shifted from desperate pleading to sheer malice. She scoffed, stepping back and straightening her navy dress.

"I did what had to be done," she snapped, her voice rising. "This girl is a gold-digger, David! She doesn't belong in our world. If you marry her, you are throwing your future away!"

She grabbed a heavy crystal vase from the marble countertop and violently smashed it onto the floor, sending shards of glass flying. "If you marry her, I will cut you off from the family trust," she threatened, her eyes wild with rage. "I will make sure you are left with absolutely nothing!"

David stood frozen, torn between the mother who had controlled his entire life and the woman he loved. Margaret pulled a legal document from her purse—a harsh prenuptial agreement she had demanded I sign weeks ago, which I had refused. She threw it at his feet. "Sign this, or you are no longer my son," she declared. The tension in the room was suffocating as David looked down at the paper, then at me, sobbing on the floor.
