His mother had been struggling with early-onset memory loss, and Beatrice had clearly taken advantage of her sweet nature to trick her into signing. Maurizio smirked again, straightening his tie as he regained his confidence.
"That's right, cousin," Maurizio sneered, looking around at his guests to regain his pride. "Evict us, and we'll sue you for everything. We'll tell the media how the billionaire tech mogul throws his struggling relatives onto the streets. Your company's stock will plunge!"
The guests began whispering again, shifting their alliances back to Maurizio. Leo felt a surge of anger, but he forced himself to remain calm. He took out his phone and made a quick call to his corporate attorney, Sarah Vance, and his mother's primary care physician.
Within minutes, Sarah sent over a crucial piece of documentation. Leo smiled as he read the file on his screen. He looked up at Beatrice and Maurizio, who were looking increasingly smug.
"This signature is completely worthless," Leo declared, holding up his phone. "My mother was legally declared incompetent to sign financial and real estate documents six months ago due to her medical condition. I hold her full power of attorney.
