Previously: When Toby, a young stable hand, runs out with a bloody nose to warn his billionaire boss about a bomb on his helicopter, a wealthy family's darkest secrets are suddenly exposed.

The Crack in the Facade

The silence between Arthur and Eleanor was louder than the roaring helicopter engines. Arthur, a man who had built a global empire on his ability to read people, saw the subtle tremor in his wife's hands. He took a slow step back from the boarding stairs, his hand slipping away from hers.

"Eleanor,"
Arthur said, his voice deadly quiet.
"If the helicopter is perfectly safe, let's board it together. Right now."

Eleanor forced a high-pitched, nervous laugh, smoothing down her dress.

"Arthur, don't be ridiculous. You're going to let a dirty, delusional stable boy ruin our evening? He's clearly had some sort of accident in the barns. He's hysterical."

"If he is hysterical, then you have nothing to fear,"
Arthur replied, his eyes narrowing.
"Board the helicopter, Eleanor."

She took another step backward, her face draining of all color. Realizing she couldn't bluff her way out, she reached into her designer clutch. But instead of a phone, she pulled out a small, black electronic transmitter with a single red button. Her elegant demeanor vanished, replaced by a wild, desperate expression.

"Stay back!"
she shrieked, her thumb hovering over the button.
"One step closer, and I'll blow us all to pieces right now!"

Toby gasped, scrambling backward on the grass. Arthur’s chief of security, Mark, drew his weapon but hesitated, knowing the devastating blast radius of the aviation fuel. It was a standoff on the manicured lawn. Eleanor sneered at Arthur, her voice filled with years of buried resentment.

"You thought you could leave me with nothing? I found the new will, Arthur. You were going to divorce me and cut me out. I wasn't going to let you cast me aside like trash!"

As she spoke, Toby noticed a shadow moving behind the hedges. It was Arthur's private security team, circling around to flank her. Toby knew he had to keep her distracted for just a few more seconds.
