Previously: When five-year-old Chloe proudly handed her father a colorful drawing of their family, he expected a sweet childhood keepsake. Instead, a chilling detail in the corner changed everything he believed about his past.

The Shadow in the Corner

The drawing depicted their family standing in front of their house, but in the bottom left corner, tucked away under a scribbled weeping willow tree, was a fourth figure. It was a woman with long, dark hair, wearing a very distinct blue dress with white polka dots. Around her neck was a tiny, carefully drawn red heart, and on her right cheek was a dark crayon dot representing a birthmark.

Lucas felt his breath catch in his throat. His hands began to tremble. It was an exact depiction of his younger sister, Clara, who had mysteriously vanished fifteen years ago when she was just eighteen. The police had found nothing, and his parents had eventually forced him to bury the memory, locked away in the deepest recesses of his mind. Yet, here she was, captured in perfect, chilling detail by a five-year-old who had never even seen a picture of her.

"Chloe," Lucas whispered, his voice shaking. "Who is this lady in the corner?"

Chloe looked up, her innocent eyes blinking.

"Oh, that's the nice lady who lives in the basement," she said casually. "She visits me when you and Mommy are asleep. She told me she used to live here a long time ago."

A cold sweat broke out across Lucas's neck. The basement had been locked for years, used only for his late parents' old storage.

"She told me to give you a secret," Chloe whispered, reaching into her pocket and pulling out a tarnished brass key. "She said it opens the blue trunk behind the old boiler."

Leaving Chloe with his wife, Sarah, Lucas grabbed a flashlight and descended into the dark, damp basement. His heart hammered in his ears as he pushed past the rusted boiler. Sure enough, hidden under a dusty tarp, sat a heavy blue trunk. With shaking hands, he inserted the brass key. It turned with a heavy click, and as he lifted the lid, his jaw dropped.
