Previously: At Amanda and Chris's beautiful wedding, Amanda's bitter ex-fiancé crashes the ceremony with a shocking legal document, claiming Chris was paid millions to marry her. Is their love a lie?

Just as Julian opened his mouth to speak again, Chris finally looked up. His eyes were red, but his gaze was steady and fierce as he looked at Julian, then at Amanda. He reached into the inner pocket of his dark blue suit and pulled out a folded piece of paper, placing it gently in Amanda's lap.

'I did sign that contract, Amanda,' Chris said, his voice raw with emotion. 'Your father came to me before I proposed. He was terrified that you would be left alone, and he wanted to ensure you were taken care of. I signed it because he wouldn't let me propose otherwise.'

Amanda looked down at the paper Chris had handed her. It was a bank receipt and a legally binding amendment.

'But the day after I signed it,' Chris continued, 'I went back to your father. I told him I couldn't keep the money. I tore up the financial clause and legally transferred the entire two-million-dollar trust fund into a public foundation for spinal cord injury research in your name. I married you because I love you, Amanda. Not for a single dime.'

Love Outlasts the Lie

Arthur nodded, tears in his eyes. 'It's true, Amanda. Chris refused the money. He said his love for you wasn't for sale. I kept the original signed copy in my office, which is obviously where Julian stole it from.'

The church erupted into whispers again, but this time, the pity was gone, replaced by awe. Julian’s smug expression collapsed into shock and embarrassment. Security guards quickly escorted a shouting Julian out of the church.

Amanda looked at Chris, her heart overflowing with a love deeper than she had ever thought possible. He had given up a fortune just to prove his love was real. She reached out, taking his hands once more.

'I love you, Chris,' she whispered.

'I love you more, Amanda,' he replied.

They turned their wheelchairs and rolled down the aisle together, hand in hand, ready to face whatever challenges life threw at them, secure in the knowledge that true love cannot be bought, sold, or broken by the ghosts of the past.
