My Ex-Wife Claimed She Lost Our Twins, But a Nurse's Call Changed My Life
Previously: When David’s ex-wife told him their pregnancy was over, he was devastated. But months later, a desperate call from a neonatal nurse revealed a shocking truth that sent him racing to the hospital.
A Mother's Choice
Just as the security guard approached, the elevator bell chimed. The doors slid open to reveal Chloe sitting in a wheelchair, pushed by Nurse Sarah. Chloe looked pale and exhausted, but her eyes were fixed entirely on David and the two babies in his arms. Eleanor spun around, her expression hardening.
"Chloe, what are you doing out of bed? Get back to your room immediately," Eleanor commanded.
But for the first time in her life, Chloe ignored her mother. She rolled herself directly between David and the lawyers. Tears welled in her eyes as she looked up at her ex-husband.

"I'm sorry, David," Chloe sobbed, her voice barely a whisper. "They told me you didn't want them. They told me you signed away your rights. My parents threatened to ruin you financially if I didn't give them up for adoption. I was so scared."
The hallway fell dead silent. The lead lawyer cleared his throat, but Chloe raised her hand, cutting him off with a newfound strength.
"The adoption is off," Chloe declared, her voice ringing clearly down the corridor. "I am retracting my surrender. Sarah has already contacted the hospital social worker, and we are adding David's name to the birth certificates right now. He is their father, and they are going home with him."
Eleanor’s face turned crimson with rage, but she knew she was defeated. With Chloe openly defying them and the nurse documenting the entire exchange, the lawyers quietly advised Eleanor to step down. Muttering curses, Eleanor turned and swept out of the ward, her lawyers trailing behind her.
David sank into a nearby chair, overwhelmed with relief as Chloe reached out to touch the tiny hands of their daughters. Though their marriage was over, they both knew they would do whatever it took to raise these beautiful girls together. Looking at his daughters, David knew that the long, dark night was finally over, and a beautiful new dawn had begun.
