Previously: When Grace stood in a tense courtroom to clear her father’s name, she faced a ruthless judge. But the secret folder she held would change both of their lives forever.

The Secret Behind Closed Doors

The sudden recess called by Judge Rebecca caught everyone off guard. Within minutes, Grace found herself standing inside the judge's private chambers, a quiet room lined with heavy law books and leather chairs. The atmosphere here was even more suffocating than the courtroom. Judge Rebecca stood behind her large desk, the stern facade she wore on the bench completely shattered. She stared at the brown folder that Grace had placed on the polished wood.

With trembling fingers, the judge opened the folder. As she scanned the documents, the color drained from her face, leaving her looking fragile and remarkably human. She sank slowly into her chair, her eyes wide with disbelief.

"Where did you get these files, Grace?"
she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, stripped of all its judicial authority.

"An anonymous source guided me to the old courthouse archives,"
Grace replied, stepping closer.
"Those papers prove that the charity's missing millions were channeled into private accounts. They also show that the lead prosecutor was paid off to bury the evidence and blame my father. He was just a convenient scapegoat."

Judge Rebecca let out a shaky breath, closing her eyes. "It is far worse than a corrupt prosecutor," she murmured. She turned one of the pages toward Grace, pointing to a bold signature at the bottom of a fraudulent wire transfer authorization.

"Do you know whose signature this is, Grace? This is Marcus Vance. He is the chief executive of the charity... and he is also my son."

Grace gasped, the revelation hitting her like a physical blow. The very judge who held her father’s fate in her hands was the mother of the man who had framed him. The conflict of interest was staggering, and the stakes had just reached a devastating peak. If the truth came out, Judge Rebecca's career would be ruined, and her son would face decades in prison. Grace realized with terror that the judge now had every reason to destroy the evidence to protect her own blood.
