My Groom Laughed When I Fell at the Altar, So I Called My Lawyer
Previously: When Amber fell from her chair at her own wedding reception, her groom and mother-in-law mocked her. Little did they know, she was already prepared to end the marriage before it even started.
The Paperwork of Betrayal
The room fell into a stunned silence as Jonathan marched down the center aisle, his polished shoes clicking against the floor. Justin stared at the attorney, then at the glittering ring resting on the tablecloth. The mockery drained from his face, replaced by a sudden, sharp panic.
"Amber, what is this?" Justin demanded, his voice dropping to a harsh whisper. "Who is this man, and why is he interrupting our reception? You are making a fool of yourself."
"No, Justin," I replied, my voice steady and clear. "The foolishness ends today."
Jonathan stopped at the head table, placing his heavy leather briefcase down and opening it with two sharp clicks. He pulled out a thick blue folder and laid it directly in front of Justin. Sylvia stepped forward, her face flushed with anger, her elegant facade slipping.

"This is an outrage!" Sylvia hissed. "Security, remove this man immediately! This is a private family event!"
"I wouldn't do that, Mrs. Vance," Jonathan said calmly, adjusting his glasses. "I am here on behalf of Amber and the estate of her late father, Thomas Sterling. And these documents are an immediate court-ordered freeze on all Vance family assets, bank accounts, and business holdings."
A collective gasp rippled through the wedding guests. Justin grabbed the papers, his hands shaking as he flipped through them. His mother hovered over his shoulder, her eyes widening in horror as she read the legal terms.
For the past six months, Justin and Sylvia had believed I was a naive, grieving orphan with a modest inheritance. They didn't know that my father was Thomas Sterling, the real estate mogul. They had spent the last three months secretly trying to access my father’s trust fund through forged signatures, believing they could drain it the moment the marriage was finalized.
But I had discovered their scheme the night before the wedding. I had found the forged documents in Justin's study. Instead of canceling the wedding, I decided to let them show their true colors in front of everyone they cared about.
