Previously: When Sarah's greedy husband pushed her down to steal her father's priceless pocket watch, he thought he had won. But the mansion doors swung open, revealing a ghost from their past.

Ghosts of the Past

Victor stood up slowly, the gold pocket watch clutched tightly in his gloved hand. The silence in the room was absolute; even the wealthiest socialites held their breath, sensing the raw danger radiating from my brother. Five years ago, Julian had framed Victor for embezzlement, forcing my father to banish him. Now, the ghost had returned, and he was standing between me and my tormentor.

"You have no business here, Victor," Julian sneered, though his pale face and trembling hands betrayed his terror. "You were written out of the will. Security! Escort this trespasser out of my house!"

But the security guards at the door didn't move. Instead, two men in dark suits stepped in behind Victor, standing like sentinels. Victor slowly pulled off his black leather gloves, his gaze never wavering from Julian's face.

"It was never your house, Julian," Victor said, his voice dangerously low and calm. "And it never will be."

Julian tried to regain his composure, adjusting his tailored suit jacket. "The deeds are signed, Victor. Sarah and I own this estate. You're nothing but a disgraced exile. If you don't leave, I'll have you arrested."

Victor let out a soft, humorless laugh. He reached into his overcoat and pulled out a thick manila envelope, tossing it onto the dining table. It slid across the wood, stopping right next to Julian's spilled wine. "Those are the original, unaltered trust documents. Our father knew you were a snake, Julian. He knew you were poisoning his mind, and eventually, his body. He left a fail-safe."

My heart leaped into my throat. Poisoning? I looked up at Victor, my eyes wide with shock. Julian took a step back, his eyes darting toward the exit. "That's a lie! You're making things up to steal what's mine!" Julian screamed, his voice cracking with desperation. But the trap was already closing around him.
