Lauren lay sobbing on the cold floor, her cheek burning and her ribs aching from the fall. She looked up at the man she had loved for five years, unable to comprehend the monster standing before her. Lauren’s heart stopped. "No, Daniel, that's impossible!" she cried, clutching the baby she had managed to shield in her arms. "I have never been with anyone else! We went to the fertility clinic together! It was our IVF treatment!" But Daniel turned on his heel and slammed the door behind him, leaving her in a heap of broken dreams and tears.
