A Nightmare in the Mansion

The grandfather clock in the corner of the grand living room ticked with an ominous, heavy rhythm. To anyone else, the sprawling estate in the Hamptons was a symbol of ultimate luxury, but to Sarah, it had become a gilded cage. Cowering in a plush pink armchair, she clutched her pregnant belly, her breath coming in ragged gasps. Standing over her was Thomas, her husband of three years, his face contorted in a mask of pure rage. The man she had once loved was gone, replaced by a monster fueled by jealousy and control.

"You are nothing without me!" Thomas screamed, his voice echoing off the high, vaulted ceilings.

In his hand, he gripped a heavy leather whip. Before Sarah could plead for mercy, he raised it and struck. The sharp crack of leather split the air, followed by Sarah’s agonizing cry. A dark stain of blood began to bloom across the light pink fabric of her gown. She wept, clutching her stomach, whispering softly to her unborn child, "Hold on, my love. Just hold on."

A few feet away, standing by the marble fireplace, was Victoria, Thomas’s older sister. Wearing a striking scarlet dress, she held a half-empty glass of red wine. Instead of rushing to help, she watched the brutal scene with cold, detached indifference, taking a slow sip. Just as Thomas raised his arm for a second strike, the heavy double doors of the living room burst open. Charles, the sixty-five-year-old patriarch of the family, stepped inside, flanked by towering security guards.

"Lower your hand, Thomas," Charles commanded, his deep voice cutting through the room like a blade.

Thomas froze, startled by his father’s sudden arrival, and slowly lowered the whip. But the nightmare was far from over.
