Previously: Audrey’s snobbish former mother-in-law tried to humiliate her at a high-society church wedding for wearing her military uniform. But a sudden shout from the back of the cathedral changed everything.

A Sudden Shift in Power

The entire cathedral fell into a stunned, breathless silence. The soldiers in the aisle instantly snapped to attention, their hands frozen at their brows in flawless military precision. The wealthy guests gasped, turning to one another in confusion. Patricia’s hand froze mid-air, her smug expression melting into a mask of utter bewilderment. Julian’s jaw dropped as he looked from the saluting soldiers to his ex-wife.

Patricia, refusing to lose control of her meticulously planned social event, stood up and marched toward the soldiers. "What is the meaning of this?" she hissed, her voice trembling with rage. "This woman is a fraud! She was a low-level desk clerk who got kicked out of the military. She is wearing a costume to humiliate my family!"

The young lieutenant, Thomas, who was standing at the altar waiting for his bride, rushed down the steps. His face was pale. He bypassed Patricia entirely, stood before Audrey, and saluted with deep, unwavering respect.

"General Vance, ma'am! We had no idea you would be arriving so early," Thomas said, his voice echoing clearly through the silent church. "It is an absolute honor to have you here."

Audrey returned the salute with a calm, practiced motion. "Carry on, Lieutenant," she said softly. "And congratulations on your wedding day."

Julian stepped forward, his face flushed with embarrassment. "Thomas, what are you doing? This is Audrey. She’s my ex-wife. She’s nobody!"

Thomas turned to Julian, his eyes flashing with anger. "Nobody? Julian, General Audrey Vance is the commanding officer of my entire division. She is a highly decorated war hero who saved dozens of lives in active combat. Her presence here is the greatest honor my family could ever receive."

The whispers in the cathedral erupted into a deafening roar. Patricia staggered back, clutching her pearls as the reality of her colossal mistake washed over her. She had spent five years treating a United States General like a servant.
