My Soldier Husband Welcomed Our Baby, But His Mother's Hidden Paperwork Threatened Everything
Previously: When John returned from deployment, holding his baby boy was a dream come true. But during their first family holiday, his mother arrived with a shocking document that threatened to tear their lives apart.
The Poison in the Envelope
The sharp, insistent knock on the front door echoed through the quiet house, instantly breaking the spell of their happy reunion. John frowned, gently placing Liam back into his bassinet before walking over to answer it. Standing on the porch was his mother, Evelyn, wearing an elegant wool coat and an expression of cold determination. She had never approved of Jessica, viewing her as a middle-class opportunist who had trapped her son.
Without waiting for an invitation, Evelyn swept into the dining room, her eyes bypassing Jessica entirely to focus on John. From her designer purse, she pulled a thick manila envelope and threw it onto the holiday table, right next to the untouched dinner plates.

"I couldn't let you live a lie for another second, John," Evelyn said, her voice dripping with artificial sympathy. "While you were risking your life overseas, your wife was busy betraying you. Open it."
With a sinking heart, John opened the envelope. Inside was a DNA paternity test. As his eyes scanned the bold letters at the bottom, his face turned completely pale. The document stated there was a zero percent probability that John was Liam's biological father.
"This is a mistake!" Jessica cried, her voice trembling as she rushed to John's side. "John, I swear to you on my life, I have never been with anyone else. I have been faithful to you! This test is a lie!"
Evelyn scoffed, pointing a manicured finger at Jessica. "She's lying to save herself, John. I had a private investigator gather a hair sample from the baby. The science doesn't lie. She used you."
John stood frozen, looking back and forth between the official-looking document and his sobbing wife. The silence in the room was suffocating. Finally, John reached into his pocket, pulled out his phone, and dialed a number, his expression hardening into stone.
