My Son Tried to Poison His Father—My Terrifying Run to Save Him
Previously: When Florence discovers a deadly vial in her daughter-in-law's purse, she realizes her husband's illness is no accident. She must run for her life to save him.
The Confrontation at the Station
Florence’s breath hitched in her throat as she rounded the corner toward the main nurse’s station. Her legs felt like lead, and her heart hammered violently against her ribs. Behind her, the sharp click of Samantha’s heels and Matthew’s heavy, urgent footsteps echoed menacingly. She could hear her son shouting, his voice laced with a terrifying mix of panic and anger, trying to convince the hospital staff that his mother was having a psychotic break.
"Stop her! She’s confused! She’s off her medication!" Matthew yelled to a passing orderly.
But Florence refused to slow down. With a final burst of adrenaline, she lunged toward the nurse's desk, where Dr. Evans was speaking with Officer Davis, the hospital's on-duty security officer. As she reached them, her foot caught on the edge of a floor mat. She stumbled, and her small purse flew from her grip, crashing onto the polished floor. The contents spilled everywhere—keys, tissues, and the small glass vial, which rolled directly to the officer's boots.

Samantha scrambled forward, her light grey blazer shifting as she reached desperately for the vial. But Officer Davis was faster. He stepped in front of her, his hand resting on his holster, and picked up the glass container. Florence, gasping for air on the floor, pointed a trembling finger at her son and daughter-in-law.
"They are poisoning Arthur!" Florence gasped, tears streaming down her face. "That vial... she had it in her bag. They are trying to kill my husband for his money!"
Matthew immediately tried to play the victim, wrapping his arms around Samantha. "Officer, my mother has advanced dementia. She’s hallucinating. She stole that medication from a cart and now she's projecting her confusion onto us." For an agonizing moment, the officer looked between the weeping mother and the poised, respectable young couple.
