The tension in the grand room was thick enough to suffocate. Charles stepped forward, his navy blazer sharp against the dim, dramatic indoor lighting. "Father, this is a private matter between my wife and me," Thomas protested, attempting to regain his footing. "She has been insolent. I am simply teaching her respect."

"Silence!" Charles roared, a sound that made even Victoria flinch. He walked over to Sarah, gently placing a hand on her shoulder. "Get her to the medical wing immediately," he ordered his men. As the guards helped Sarah stand, Thomas stepped in their path, his face turning red with indignation.

"You cannot take her, Father! She is carrying my child! The future heir to the Sterling estate!" Thomas yelled, pointing a trembling finger at Sarah's stomach.

Charles stopped. A bitter, sorrowful smile touched his lips as he looked at his only son. "That child is indeed an heir to the Sterling estate, Thomas. But he is not yours."

A heavy silence fell over the room. Sarah gasped, looking at Charles in sheer confusion. She had never been unfaithful. She loved Thomas, despite his cruelty, and had never looked at another man. Or should I explain your secret trips to Switzerland? The medical records I found in your safe?" Charles asked coldly. "You are sterile, Thomas. You have been since childhood. You knew this, yet you let Sarah believe this pregnancy was a miracle."
