My Wealthy Wife Forced My Elderly Mother To Scrub Floors While Carrying Our Twins
A Heartbreaking Discovery
David pulled his car into the long, winding driveway of his suburban estate, his chest tight with anticipation. He had cut his business trip short by two days, eager to surprise his wife, Victoria, and see their beautiful two-month-old twin boys. Slipping his key quietly into the heavy oak front door, he stepped into the grand, sunlit foyer, expecting to hear the soft sounds of a lullaby or the gentle hum of the television. Instead, a heavy, tense silence filled the air, broken only by the rhythmic, agonizing sound of wet bristles scraping against hardwood.
David froze. At the foot of the curved polished wood staircase, his sixty-nine-year-old mother, Helen, was on her knees. Her white hair was disheveled, and her sky-blue dress was damp with soapy water. Strapped securely to her frail back in a double carrier were the twins, sleeping fitfully as she rocked back and forth, scrubbing the wooden steps with a heavy plastic bucket beside her. Standing several steps above her was Victoria. At thirty-one, Victoria looked pristine in her crisp white collared shirt and tailored black slacks. Her arms were crossed tightly over her chest, her expression completely devoid of empathy.
Before David could even process the horror of the scene, his protective instincts took over. He dropped his briefcase, the heavy leather thudding against the marble floor as he rushed to his mother’s side. "Let me take this," David pleaded, his voice trembling with a mixture of grief and rising anger as he reached for the heavy scrub brush. Helen, startled, looked up with tear-filled eyes, trying to pull the brush away. "No, no, it's fine, David," she whispered frantically, her voice cracking with exhaustion. From above, Victoria’s voice cut through the air like ice. "It's her job," she said flatly. David stood up slowly, his face flushing red as he glared at his wife.
"You stand there watching her? You absolute waste of space! I can't believe you!"Helen covered her face in deep distress, weeping silently as David’s furious shout echoed through the grand foyer.
