A Mysterious Kid Ruined My Signature Dish, But One Taste Revealed a Heartbreaking Secret
Previously: When a cocky twenty-year-old snuck into my high-end kitchen and altered my signature dish, I was ready to throw him out—until one taste of his reduction changed my life forever.
The weight of fifteen years of guilt finally crashed down on Edward. He looked at the young man who possessed his father's undeniable genius, and then at the staff who were waiting for his command. He could have called security. He could have claimed Dylan was a liar. But looking into Dylan’s eyes, which were identical to Marcus’s, Edward knew he couldn't run from his sins any longer.
He took a deep breath, the tension leaving his shoulders, replaced by a sudden, profound sense of relief.

A Legacy Reclaimed
"You're right," Edward said, his voice loud enough for the entire kitchen to hear. "I took credit for your father's genius. I was young, greedy, and terrified of failing. And I have regretted it every single day."
Dylan blinked, clearly caught off guard by Edward’s immediate confession. He had expected a fight, a denial, a legal battle. He hadn't expected the arrogant head chef to humble himself.
Edward turned to his sous chef.
"Stop the line. Change the menu cards. From tonight on, the scallop dish is officially named 'The Vance Scallops.' And Dylan..." Edward turned back to the young man. "I don't expect you to forgive me. But this kitchen, half of this restaurant, belongs to your family. I want you to run it with me. Let me finally put your father's name where it always belonged."
Dylan stared at Edward, seeing the genuine remorse in the older man’s eyes. Slowly, the anger in Dylan’s expression softened. He looked down at his father's notebook, then back up at the kitchen that now lay open to him. He extended his hand, and Edward shook it, sealing a partnership built not on theft, but on truth.
True greatness cannot be stolen; it can only be honored when we find the courage to face our past and make things right.
