Previously: When a smug young soldier mocks a weathered 66-year-old veteran at a desert shooting competition, he has no idea he just challenged a legendary ghost unit sniper.

A Shadow from the Past

The speaker was Colonel Vance, a decorated commander who had just stepped out of the command tent. Leo and his squad immediately snapped to attention, their faces pale. But Vance ignored them entirely, walking straight toward Arthur and offering a crisp, respectful salute. Arthur returned it slowly, the ghosts of his past military service rushing back in an instant.

"Arthur, it's been a long time," Colonel Vance said, his voice grave. "We need your eyes. The division has been compromised from the inside."

Vance led Arthur into a secure tactical tent, leaving a trembling Leo outside. On the digital screens inside, Vance pulled up encrypted files. For the past six months, highly classified drone coordinates had been leaking to black-market buyers. The IP addresses used to transmit the data traced back to the very base they were standing on—specifically to the tactical unit led by Leo.

"We suspect a group of active-duty soldiers are operating as a rogue cell," Vance explained, pointing at a photo of Leo meeting an unidentified contact. "They are selling out their own brothers for cash. I couldn't trust anyone active on this base to investigate. That's why I called you."

Arthur stared at the screen, a cold anger building inside him. The black wolf tattoo on his arm wasn't just a badge; it represented a code of absolute loyalty. To see young soldiers betraying their country for greed was a personal insult.

Suddenly, the tent's red emergency lights began to flash. A loud, screeching alarm pierced the quiet desert air. A young technician rushed into the tent, his face white with fear. "Colonel, we have a security breach! Someone is downloading the master encryption keys from the main server room right now!" Arthur looked out the tent flap and saw Leo sprinting toward the server building, his hand resting on his sidearm. The young traitor knew he had been caught, and he was planning to take the data and run.
