The stranger walked slowly down the center aisle, his heavy boots clicking rhythmically against the marble. With every step he took, the color drained further from Thomas’s face. At the family table, Thomas’s mother, Eleanor, gasped loudly, dropping her crystal glass. It shattered into a hundred glittering pieces on the floor, but no one looked down. Every eye in the room was fixed on the intruder.

"Nice party, Thomas," the man said, his voice cutting through the silence like ice. "Did you really think you could erase me and live happily ever after?"

Megan looked at her new husband, her heart beginning to race. "Thomas? Who is this?" she whispered, clutching his arm. But Thomas was frozen, staring at the man as if he had just seen a ghost. He couldn't find his voice.

The stranger turned to Megan with a bitter, mock-polite smile. "My apologies, bride. I am Julian. I am Thomas’s older brother. The one they told you died in a tragic accident a decade ago."

Megan’s mind reeled. Thomas had always told her he was an only child, that his family had suffered a devastating loss years ago. "That’s impossible," she stammered.

Eleanor stood up, her voice trembling with a mixture of fear and rage. "Get out of here, Julian! You are dead to this family! Security, remove this man!"

Julian pulled a thick envelope from his coat pocket. "Only because you paid to make me disappear, Mother," he replied coldly. "Ten years ago, I took the fall for the corporate fraud that would have ruined this family. You promised to protect me, but instead, you declared me legally dead to claim my share of the inheritance. And Thomas here was more than happy to sign the papers to fund his lavish lifestyle—and this very wedding."
