Previously: When a soot-faced orphan effortlessly claims a legendary blade that defeated the strongest warriors, he must fight to survive the greed of ruthless mercenaries.

The True King's Legacy

Seeing the glowing runes and the unmistakable crest on the hilt, Borin’s eyes widened. He realized that the legends were true: only the blood of the first king could awaken the monolith's blade. Instead of bowing, however, Borin grew desperate. If he killed the boy now, he could claim the sword and pretend the magic had chosen him. With a desperate roar, Borin commanded his men to charge all at once.

But the sword did not just offer physical defense; it carried the memories and skills of Arthur's ancestors. As the mercenaries closed in, Arthur closed his eyes, letting the ancient spirit of the weapon guide his movements. He moved with impossible speed, a blur of silver and light. With precise, non-lethal strikes, he disarmed the mercenaries one by one, shattering their weapons and sending them sprawling into the dirt.

Borin was left standing alone, his axe chipped and his confidence shattered. Arthur stepped forward, pointing the glowing tip of the blade at the mercenary's chest. Borin fell to his knees, trembling, expecting the final blow. But Arthur gently lowered the sword, his voice calm and filled with a maturity far beyond his years.

"I did not claim this blade to rule through fear," Arthur said. "I claimed it to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Go, and never return."

Humiliated and defeated, Borin and his men scrambled down the mountain, leaving Arthur and the old blacksmith in the quiet sanctuary of the pass. Thomas fell to his knees, pledging his loyalty to the young man he had once thought was just an orphan. Arthur looked out over the misty valley below, knowing his life would never be the same. True strength is not found in the muscle of a warrior, but in the purity of a heart chosen by destiny to serve others.
