The Outcast Boy Who Pulled the Sacred Blade and Faced a King's Wrath
Previously: When the kingdom's mightiest warrior failed to draw the legendary sword from the stone, a lowly, soot-stained orphan stepped forward to claim his true destiny.
The Outcast's Spark
As Arthur’s fingers tightened around the hilt, a brilliant, golden light erupted from the cracks in the boulder. The ancient runes etched along the blade began to glow with a blinding intensity, cutting through the thick canyon fog. With a gentle, effortless pull, Arthur drew the sword. It slid from the stone as smoothly as silk, humming with a powerful, resonant frequency that echoed off the canyon walls.
The laughter of the knights died instantly. Borin’s jaw dropped in sheer disbelief, his face pale beneath his red beard. For a moment, no one dared to breathe. But the awe quickly turned to a dark, festering envy. Borin drew his massive battleaxe, his eyes burning with rage.

"Witchcraft! The boy is a thief, a dirty street rat using dark magic!" Borin roared, his voice echoing off the stone walls.
Instantly, a dozen knights drew their weapons, forming a ring of cold steel around the boy. Before Arthur could process what was happening, the royal carriage arrived, and Lord Raymond, the greedy king of the realm, stepped out. He looked at the glowing sword in the boy's hand and knew his reign was threatened. He could not let a peasant inherit the throne.
"Seize him," the King commanded coldly. "Strip him of the blade, and throw him into the deepest dungeon for high treason."
Arthur’s heart hammered in his chest. Just then, his old mentor, the elderly blacksmith who had raised him, rushed forward to protect him. "The sword chose him! It is his birthright!" the old man cried. But Borin, consumed by fury, struck the old blacksmith down without mercy. Arthur screamed in horror as his only family collapsed onto the cold stone. Surrounded by guards and facing the King’s own drawn blade, Arthur was trapped with nowhere to run.
