A Prison Bully Demanded My Sneakers—But She Had No Idea What Was Hidden Inside
Previously: When a ruthless prison bully cornered Sarah in the yard demanding her white sneakers, she refused to back down—because those shoes held the one thing that could set her free.
Into the Lion's Den
The tense standoff was abruptly broken by the sharp blast of a guard's whistle. Officer Reynolds came marching over, but instead of reprimanding Martha, he grabbed Sarah roughly by the arm.
'Warden wants to see you, schoolteacher,'he muttered, dragging her away while Martha watched with a smug, knowing grin.
Moments later, Sarah found herself standing in the air-conditioned office of Warden Vance. The contrast between the sweltering yard and the cold, luxurious office was jarring. Vance sat behind his desk, looking at Sarah with a predatory smile.
'You thought you could sneak in here and finish your sister's work, didn't you, Sarah?'he asked softly.

Sarah's heart froze. Her sister, Clara, had died in this prison under suspicious circumstances while investigating the warden's smuggling ring.
'I don't know what you're talking about,'Sarah lied, trying to keep her voice from shaking.
'Don't play dumb,'Vance sneered.
'We know Clara left a micro-SD card filled with encrypted data, and we know you smuggled it back in inside those white sneakers. Martha will get those shoes, Sarah. If you don't cooperate, you'll suffer the same tragic accident your sister did.'
To break her spirit, the warden ordered Sarah to be thrown into solitary confinement. For forty-eight hours, she sat in total darkness, her mind racing. She realized her defense lawyer must have betrayed her to the warden. However, she knew one thing they didn't: the micro-SD card wasn't in the soles anymore. She had already moved it.
When she was finally released back to her cell block, the trap was waiting. That very night, the guard on duty conveniently walked away as Martha and two of her thugs entered Sarah's cell. Martha held a rusted metal shank, her eyes gleaming.
'Time's up,'Martha whispered.
'Give me the shoes, or I'll take them off your corpse.'
