The Rancher Warned Him the Beast Was Savage, But He Discovered a Heartbreaking Secret
Previously: When Leo stepped onto the dusty ranch, he faced a beast everyone had given up on. What happened next left a terrified father completely speechless.
Richard stepped forward, gesturing to the two men.
"Take her,"he ordered coldly.
"We’re ending this hazard tonight."As the men approached with their metal poles, Maya woke up, instantly sensing the hostility. She began to growl, her body trembling with fear. But Leo stood up, placing himself directly between the men and the dog.
"Stop right there,"Leo commanded, his voice ringing with absolute authority.
"This dog isn't dangerous. She was trying to save Toby, and she’s been grieving ever since. If you take her, you're destroying the last piece of Toby’s heart."
Richard laughed mockingly.
"She’s an animal, kid. She’s a liability. Move aside."But Leo refused to budge. Instead, he turned to Mark, whose eyes were wide with a sudden, powerful realization.
"Mark, look at her,"Leo urged.
"She doesn't hate you. She’s been waiting for you to hold her, just like you’ve been wanting to hold Toby. Don't let them take her."

A Family Reborn
Something shifted inside Mark. The paralyzing grief that had kept him frozen for six months suddenly transformed into a father's fierce protective instinct. He stepped up beside Leo, his chest puffed out, staring down his brother-in-law.
"Get off my land, Richard,"Mark said, his voice steady and dangerous.
"The court order was based on a lie that she was wild. You can see right now she is calm. I’m canceling the petition, and if you don't leave this second, I’m calling the sheriff for trespassing."Seeing the determination in Mark's eyes and the massive dog standing calmly but protectively beside Leo, Richard realized he had lost. He cursed under his breath, ordered his men back into the truck, and sped away.
As the dust settled, Mark slowly sank to his knees in front of Maya. For the first time in half a year, he reached out his hand. Maya sniffed his fingers, let out a soft whine, and leaned her entire body into his chest. Mark wrapped his arms around her, weeping openly as the healing process finally began. Leo watched them with a quiet smile, knowing that sometimes, the wildest beasts are simply the ones carrying the heaviest broken hearts.
