Previously: When an arrogant male recruit tried to corner Brooke in the base showers, he thought she was easy prey. He didn't know her real identity—or the power she held.

The Threat of Dishonorable Discharge

The next morning, the humid air of the barracks was replaced by the sterile, cold atmosphere of the administrative building. Brooke stood at attention in front of the commanding officer's desk. Her uniform was immaculate, her expression a mask of perfect military discipline, despite the storm raging inside her. To her right stood Sean, sporting a dark bruise on his jaw and a smug, victorious grin. Behind the heavy oak desk sat Captain Miller, Sean’s uncle, looking down at Brooke with undisguised contempt.

"Private Davis, your conduct last night was a disgrace to this uniform," Captain Miller said, his voice dripping with authority. "Assaulting a fellow recruit in the barracks is a direct violation of the military code. I have already drafted the paperwork for your dishonorable discharge."

Brooke kept her eyes fixed straight ahead. She knew what this was. It was a cover-up. Sean had violated barracks regulations by entering the women's facilities to intimidate her, but because of his family connections, his actions were being erased while she was being painted as the instigator.

"With respect, Captain, Recruit Sean entered the restricted quarters with the intent to harass me," Brooke stated, her voice unwavering. "I acted in self-defense."

Sean let out a soft, mocking chuckle. "Who's going to believe you, Davis? You're a nobody. My uncle runs this sector."

Captain Miller picked up his pen, ready to sign the document that would shatter Brooke’s dreams. But before the ink could touch the paper, the heavy wooden door to the office flew open with a resounding bang. Every man in the room froze as a tall, imposing figure stepped inside, the four silver stars on his shoulders catching the light. It was General Richard Vance, the commander of the entire division, and Brooke’s secret father. The smug grin instantly vanished from Sean's face, and Captain Miller scrambled to salute, his face turning a pale shade of gray.
