A Ruthless Lawyer Stole My Pension, But My Old General Stepped In
Previously: When a corrupt lawyer shoves a veteran and steals his pension, he thinks he's won. But he didn't count on the veteran's powerful old commanding officer stepping in to deliver justice.
A Soldier's Justice
Marcus Vance laughed, a harsh sound that echoed through the marble lobby. "You see, old man? You and your high-ranking friend are nothing compared to real power. Now, sign the deed to your house, or the General goes to a federal penitentiary."
But General Sterling didn't look worried. In fact, a slow, grim smile spread across his face. He looked at the lead federal agent.

"I knew you'd show up, Agent Miller," the General said calmly. "Which is why I didn't come alone."
From behind the military escorts, a woman in a sharp grey pantsuit stepped forward, holding a leather briefcase. She opened it to reveal a stack of signed warrants and a digital recording device.
"I am federal prosecutor Evelyn Vance—no relation to you, Marcus," she said, looking directly at the billionaire. "And this is a federal warrant signed by the Governor and the Department of Justice. For the past six months, we have been monitoring your offshore accounts. We watched you bribe these agents, and we just recorded your lawyer admitting to stealing Sergeant Louis's pension on a public street."
The color drained from Marcus Vance's face. The corrupt federal agents looked at each other, realized they were completely outmatched, and slowly backed away, raising their hands. Evelyn signaled to a team of honest federal marshals who poured into the lobby from the street.
Within minutes, handcuffs were slapped onto Raymond, Marcus Vance, and the corrupt agents. As they were led away in disgrace, General Sterling turned to Louis and handed him an official document bearing the seal of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
"Your pension has been fully restored, Louis, with back pay," the General said, smiling. "And your home is officially designated as a historical landmark. No one can ever touch it again."
Tears welled in Louis's eyes as he gripped his gold challenge coin. He had fought for his country decades ago, and today, his country had fought back for him. True honor can never be stolen by greed, and a real soldier never stands alone.
