The Gathering in the Canyon

The air in the narrow stone canyon of Eldoria was thick with a damp, clinging fog that muffled the sound of the wind. For centuries, the cracked boulder at the canyon's heart had held the legendary sword, Ignis. It was a weapon of myth, said to belong only to the rightful heir of the fallen dynasty. Today, the powerful Warlord Borin had come to claim it, surrounded by his elite, heavily armored guards.

Borin, a broad-chested warrior scarred by a hundred battles, stepped up to the stone. His dark plate armor clanked heavily with every step. He looked at the leather-wrapped hilt with absolute certainty. Gripping the handle with both hands, he unleashed a guttural roar, straining with all his might. His muscles bulged, and his face turned a deep, furious crimson, but the blade remained stubbornly wedged in the stone. Not even a single crack yielded to his immense strength.

Gasping for breath, Borin finally let go, his pride deeply wounded. He turned back to his men, spitting on the wet ground.

"If I couldn't pull it out, no one can,"
he grumbled, dismissing the ancient legend as a mere children's tale.

Among the crowd of towering knights stood Arthur, a small, dirt-smudged young man dressed in a ragged brown tunic. He was nothing more than a stable boy, tasked with carrying water and polishing the armor of men who despised him. Yet, as the knights began to pack up their gear, Arthur felt a strange, magnetic pull drawing him toward the boulder. He stepped forward, his messy blonde hair damp with sweat.

Ignoring the mocking laughter of the guards, Arthur walked up to the ancient stone. He looked up at the hilt, feeling a sudden, deep sense of belonging.

"I am Arthur. And I am going to claim you,"
he whispered with quiet resolve. He reached out and firmly gripped the hilt, and the world seemed to fall perfectly silent.
