The Secrets Behind the Black Casket at Our Wedding Finally Came to Light
Previously: When Nicholas and Lauren placed a black casket at the altar, guests thought it was a sick joke—until a sudden sound from inside turned their wedding into a nightmare.
The silence that followed was suffocating. Nicholas’s smile vanished instantly. He looked down at the polished wood of the casket, his brow furrowing in confusion.
The Sound from the Grave
"Nicholas," Lauren whispered, her voice barely audible over the wind. "Tell me you put a prop in there. Tell me this is a joke."
"I didn't touch it after the rental company dropped it off this morning," Nicholas muttered, his face draining of color.
Another heavy thump echoed, followed by the unmistakable sound of fingernails scratching against the interior lining. The guests erupted into panicked whispers. Several people stood up, backing away from the altar. It was then that Nicholas’s mother, Eleanor, let out a blood-curdling scream.

She rushed down the aisle, her expensive silk dress tearing slightly as she pushed past the flower arrangements. She threw herself onto the casket, her hands trembling violently.
"Don't open it! Nicholas, call the police, but do not open this box!" she shrieked, her eyes wide with a manic terror that didn't make sense.
"Mom, what are you talking about? Someone is dying in there!" Nicholas yelled, reaching for the heavy brass latch.
"If you open it, your father's legacy is dead!" Eleanor cried, tears streaming down her face. "He found us, Nicholas. I thought I paid him enough to disappear forever!"
The revelation struck like lightning. Nicholas’s father had supposedly passed away ten years ago in a tragic accident. Or so Nicholas had been told. The scratching grew weaker, replaced by a desperate, gasping sound. Lauren realized with horror that whoever was inside was rapidly running out of air.
Ignoring his mother's hysterical protests, Nicholas grabbed the heavy lid. With a desperate heave, he popped the latches and threw the casket open.
