The silence that fell over the transit station was deafening. The commuters who had been whispering and recording on their phones now stared in stunned silence. Arthur stood paralyzed, his hand still gripping the cold steel of the handcuffs. He looked from Marcus's face to the PA speaker, and then back again. Arthur quickly let go of the handcuffs and tried to put on a friendly face, pretending he was merely assisting the Lieutenant, all while whispering final, desperate threats into Marcus's ear.
