A Malicious Sergeant Tried to Frame Me but Forgot the Cameras Were Rolling
Previously: When Sergeant Mitchell tried to publicly humiliate Navy Lieutenant Stephanie with planted evidence in front of her entire unit, he thought he had the perfect trap. He was dead wrong.
A Web of Lies
Within thirty minutes, the confrontation escalated to the highest authority on the base. Stephanie and Mitchell stood at attention in Commander Vance’s wood-paneled office. The atmosphere was suffocating. Mitchell had already presented his version of events, backed by two of his close friends from his unit who claimed to have witnessed the entire "assault."
Commander Vance looked at Stephanie, his expression heavy with disappointment. "Lieutenant, these are severe allegations," the commander said, tapping the written statements on his desk. "Sergeant Mitchell claims you brought contraband into the barracks, and when confronted, you physically attacked him. I have two eyewitness accounts corroborating his story."

Mitchell stood beside her, his chin tucked in a perfect military posture, but a smug, victorious grin played at the corners of his lips. He believed he had executed the perfect career-ending strike against the woman who had outperformed him.
Stephanie remained stoic. "Sir, Sergeant Mitchell’s claims are entirely fabricated," she stated clearly. "He planted that item to humiliate me, and his physical advance left me no choice but to use defensive measures to protect myself."
Commander Vance sighed, rubbing his temples. "Lieutenant, it is your word against an NCO and two witnesses. In the absence of physical evidence, I have no choice but to initiate a formal inquiry and suspend your security clearance immediately."
That suspension would effectively destroy Stephanie's chance at her upcoming promotion. Mitchell’s grin widened. He thought he had won. But he had made one fatal error. He had assumed the barracks' blind spot was still blind. He didn't know that Stephanie had personally authorized a security upgrade just forty-eight hours prior.
