Previously: When a wealthy socialite tried to humiliate a quiet woman in a luxury boutique, she had no idea she was speaking to the company's owner—who instantly shut the store down.

The Ripples of Arrogance

The heavy glass doors of the boutique closed behind Regina as she stepped into the pouring rain. Her personal security detail immediately opened the door to her waiting black limousine. But before she could step inside, the frantic clicking of high heels echoed on the wet pavement. It was Natalie, her expensive silk dress soaked, her makeup running down her pale face.

"Wait! You can't do this!" Natalie screamed, trying to bypass the security guard who instantly blocked her path. "Do you know who my father is? He will ruin you!"

Regina paused, looking down at the hysterical woman from the dry comfort of her car. "I know exactly who your father is, Natalie," Regina replied, her voice cold and level. "His manufacturing firm relies entirely on Vance Luxury Group’s distribution network. Without our contract, your family’s business will be bankrupt by the end of the month."

Natalie gasped, her eyes widening in sheer terror as the weight of her mistake finally crashed down upon her. She had not only embarrassed herself; she had single-handedly jeopardized her family's entire legacy.

By the time Regina arrived at her corporate headquarters, her assistant informed her that Michael had called forty-two times, sobbing and begging for his job, claiming Natalie had coerced him. Shortly after, a frantic call came from Richard, Natalie's father. He was practically hyperventilating, begging Regina for a meeting to save his life's work.

The next morning, Richard and a highly subdued Natalie stood in Regina’s sprawling penthouse office. Richard looked as though he had aged ten years overnight. He forced a trembling Natalie to slide a written apology across the desk. Yet, as Regina looked at the young socialite, she noticed a lingering spark of resentment in Natalie's eyes. Natalie whispered, "I apologized... but you didn't have to humiliate me like that. You wanted this drama." Richard gasped in horror at his daughter's continued defiance.
