Previously: When a corrupt pension officer tried to swindle a decorated veteran on the street, he didn't expect a four-star general to arrive in a convoy to settle the score.

Louis looked at the weeping man who, only minutes earlier, had treated him like garbage. There was no joy in Louis's eyes, only the quiet dignity of a man who had seen too much war to find pleasure in another man's ruin. He simply pocketed his gold coin and shook his head. "You took from people who sacrificed everything so you could wear that fancy suit," Louis said quietly. "Now, you have to pay the price."

A Hero's True Reward

The marshals moved in quickly, securing the handcuffs around Raymond's wrists and confiscating his leather clipboard. As they led the sobbing bureaucrat away, the crowd that had gathered on the sidewalk erupted into spontaneous applause. For once, the little guy had won, and justice had been served swiftly and decisively.

General Sterling turned to Louis, a warm smile finally breaking through his stern military bearing. "It's good to see you, Louis. Your pension has not only been restored, but we've also recovered every single cent that was diverted from your account, with interest."

"Thank you, General," Louis said, offering a crisp, perfect salute. "But what about the others? There are hundreds of veterans out there who don't have a general looking out for them."

"I'm glad you asked," Sterling replied, placing a hand on Louis's shoulder. "The President has just authorized a new federal task force to oversee veteran affairs and audit these pension offices. And I can't think of anyone better to lead it than you. What do you say, Sergeant Major? Ready for one last mission?"

Louis looked at his gold coin, then up at the bright blue sky. For the first time in years, he felt a deep sense of purpose washing over him. He was no longer just a forgotten face on a city street; he was a protector once again. True honor can never be stolen by small minds, for justice always finds a way to lift the righteous back to where they belong.
