The Golden Rule of Luxury

The air inside the flagship Aspen branch of Vance & Co. smelled of expensive leather, polished mahogany, and the faint, sweet scent of white orchids. It was a sanctuary for the ultra-wealthy, a place where fortunes were spent on a whim. Regina Vance stood quietly near the back of the store, her short, icy blonde crop catching the warm overhead lighting. Wearing a deep purple pantsuit and a thick gold chain necklace, she looked elegant but understated. She was observing the staff, wanting to see how they treated ordinary customers when they thought the billionaire founder wasn't watching.

Her quiet observation was shattered by the sharp clack of high heels. Natalie, a smug socialite draped in a beige silk slip dress and dripping in diamonds, marched over. She had been eyeing Regina with growing disdain. Pointing a manicured finger directly at Regina’s face, she sneered loudly enough for the entire boutique to hear.

"You don't belong in this store. This place is for elite clientele, not people who look like they wandered in from the discount mall."

Regina didn't blink. She merely stared at the younger woman with cool, icy authority. Michael, the store manager in a light grey suit, rushed over, eager to please a high-spending regular. "Is there a problem, ma'am?" he asked Natalie, completely ignoring Regina.

"Get this woman out of here," Natalie demanded. "She is ruining my shopping experience."

Michael turned to Regina, his expression cold. "I'm going to have to ask you to leave, ma'am."

Regina calmly reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. She dialed a direct number. "Freeze the corporate accounts," she said into the receiver, her voice cutting through the tense silence like a blade. "Start the ownership review right now."

Michael’s face instantly drained of color. He gasped in sudden, horrific realization as he recognized the woman standing before him. Regina turned to walk out, continuing into her phone, "And close this branch until I authorize it." As she walked toward the exit, the store employees lined up and bowed deeply, leaving Natalie and Michael ruined and frozen in the background.
