The damp air of the barracks shower room was thick with steam and the scent of industrial soap. Specialist Rachel Miller wrapped her white terrycloth towel tighter around herself, her fingers gripping the edge as her metal dog tags clanked softly against her collarbone. She had just finished a grueling twelve-hour tactical training exercise, and all she wanted was to wash the grime of the Georgia mud from her skin. But as she rounded the corner of the tiled wall, her path was blocked by Sergeant Matthew Sterling and three of his peers.

Matthew stood shirtless, his shaved head gleaming under the harsh fluorescent lights, his green military trousers low on his hips. He had spent weeks trying to break Rachel's spirit, sabotaging her gear and undermining her authority. Now, he saw an opportunity to humiliate her. Smiling mockingly, Matthew stepped into her personal space, his eyes scanning her dismissively. "You think a towel makes you untouchable?" he sneered, loud enough for his friends to chuckle.

Rachel did not flinch. She had spent years mastering hand-to-hand combat before enlistment, and she refused to let a bully intimidate her. She looked him dead in the eye, her voice dropping to a dangerous whisper.

"That's your first mistake,"

she replied.

In a split second, Rachel moved. With a swift, practiced sweep of her leg, she caught Matthew off balance. Before he could react, she grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and slammed him hard against the cold, wet tiled wall. Her hand clamped firmly around his throat, pinning him in place. Matthew's smirk vanished, replaced by sheer panic as he gasped for air.

"Hey, get off!"

he choked out, his fingers clawing at her wrist.

The other soldiers watched in absolute shock, frozen in place. Rachel tightened her grip, leaning in close so only he could hear.
