A Snobbish Manager Humiliated Me Over a Broken Watch, Unaware of My Husband’s Legacy
The heavy glass doors of the luxury watch boutique always felt like a barrier between two worlds. Inside, the warm glowing sconces illuminated marble floors and glittering glass cases. For Beatrice, a silver-haired elderly woman in a wheelchair, entering the store was a journey back in time. Clutched tightly in her frail hands was a worn, scratched vintage watch with a faded leather strap. It had stopped ticking weeks ago, and with it, the last living heartbeat of her past seemed to have silenced.
She rolled up to the marble-topped display counter, feeling out of place amidst the sparkling modern chronographs. A young assistant named Owen, dressed in a sharp charcoal grey vest, noticed her immediately. While other employees looked away, Owen stepped forward with a genuine smile. He knelt beside her wheelchair.

"How can I help you today, ma'am?" he asked softly.
Beatrice placed the worn watch onto the pristine marble counter. "Can you make it tick again?" she asked. Owen picked up the timepiece with immense care, but before he could examine it, a shadow fell over them. Victoria, the boutique’s cold-eyed manager, stood there in her tailored navy blazer. She sneered at the old watch.
"We don't repair trash here, Owen," Victoria said, her voice dripping with disdain. "This is a luxury establishment, not a pawn shop."
Owen’s face flushed with anger. He gently fastened the watch back onto Beatrice's wrist.
"To her, it matters," Owen replied firmly.
Victoria leaned in close, whispering through gritted teeth, "You're going to lose your job over this." Beatrice didn't flinch. Slowly, she pulled a faded envelope from her coat pocket and took out a vintage black-and-white photograph. "My husband wore it here," she said, holding it up. Owen looked from the photo to a large, framed portrait of the store's founder hanging on the main wall. The resemblance was undeniable. "Is he... the founder?" Owen whispered. Beatrice looked up at the stunned manager. "And I am his wife."
