The midday sun beat down on the sprawling, perfectly manicured lawns of the Sterling estate, but Liam felt only a freezing dread. His lungs burned as he sprinted across the vibrant green grass, his worn work boots tearing up the sod. Blood from a fresh, jagged cut on his right cheek dripped onto his ripped blue work shirt, but he ignored the pain. In the distance, the sleek black helicopter sat on the private pad, its massive blades already spinning into a deafening, rhythmic roar. Liam’s eyes were locked on the two figures walking toward the aircraft: his billionaire employer, Charles Sterling, and Charles’s elegant, younger wife, Vivian.

A Desperate Warning

Charles was dressed in his signature impeccable navy suit, carrying a leather briefcase, while Vivian walked gracefully beside him in a chic, cream-colored designer dress. To anyone else, they were the picture of high-society perfection. To Liam, they were a man walking into a death trap and the monster who set it. Only minutes earlier, Liam had witnessed Vivian secretly planting a small black device inside the helicopter's maintenance hatch, and her hired thugs had beaten him when he tried to intervene. He had barely escaped.

“Sir! Sir! Don’t get on that helicopter, your wife put a bomb inside!” Liam gasped, skidding to a halt just yards away from the powerful couple.

The wind from the spinning blades whipped up Liam's faded baseball cap, sending it tumbling across the lawn. Charles stopped in his tracks, his stern face hardening as he looked at the disheveled, bleeding stable hand. Vivian’s elegant facade instantly cracked into a mask of cold fury. She stepped in front of her husband, her eyes blazing with malice.

“But what on earth are you saying, crazy boy? Go back to the stables where you belong,” Vivian snapped, her voice dripping with venom.

She turned to Charles, her tone instantly shifting to a sweet, manipulative purr, claiming Liam was unstable and hallucinating. Liam knew he had only one card left to play to save his boss's life. He looked directly into Charles’s analytical eyes.

“If you don’t believe me, sir, ask her to get on the helicopter with you right now,” Liam pleaded.

A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the lawn. Charles slowly turned his gaze to his wife, his eyes locking onto hers in deep, sudden suspicion.
