I Was Stalked in an Empty Subway—Only to Find My Husband Was Behind It
Previously: Chloe felt a chill down her spine as footsteps echoed behind her in the deserted subway station. But the terrifying truth of who was following her lay much closer to home.
A Traitor in the House
Chloe burst through the front door of her apartment, gasping for air. Her husband, Julian, looked up from his book, his face immediately twisting into a mask of deep concern. He rushed to her, catching her as she collapsed into his arms. She wept openly, pouring out her terror about the footsteps in the subway and the constant, chilling feeling of being followed over the past weeks.
"Shh, you're safe now, Chloe," Julian murmured, stroking her hair. "It's just your anxiety acting up again. You’ve been working too hard. Let me take your coat."
He hung her trench coat in the hallway closet and gently nudged her toward the bathroom to take a hot, calming bath. But as the tub filled, Chloe realized she had left her keys in her coat pocket. Shivering, she walked back to the closet. Reaching deep into the pocket, her fingers brushed against something small, hard, and metallic taped securely inside the inner lining. She pulled it out. It was a tiny GPS tracking device.

Her blood ran cold. Before she could process the shock, she heard Julian’s voice from the living room. He was speaking in a hushed, urgent whisper on his phone. Creeping closer to the door, she listened, her heart freezing in her chest.
"She bought it completely," Julian whispered with a cold, mocking laugh. "She was terrified tonight. Your guy did a great job following her in the subway. Keep doing this for another week. Once she looks completely unstable, the court will easily grant me full control of her family's trust fund."
The betrayal was a physical blow. The man she loved was gaslighting her, orchestrating her living nightmare to steal her inheritance. Chloe realized she was trapped with a monster. She had to act fast, but showing her hand now would ruin any chance of escape. She turned off the bath, quietly dialed her family's trusted lawyer, and began to spin a trap of her own.
