Previously: When Elizabeth wore her decorated dress uniform to her sister's high-society wedding, her snobbish stepmother tried to shame her. But a sudden announcement changed everything.

A Surprising Arrival

The entire cathedral fell into a stunned silence. Walking down the aisle with absolute authority was General Harrison, a highly decorated leader and a living legend in the military. He was flanked by two stern-faced officers in dress blues. Judith’s eyes widened in sheer disbelief as she watched the high-ranking official march past her, his gaze locked entirely on Elizabeth.

When the General reached Elizabeth, he stopped, came to attention, and delivered a crisp, flawless salute. Elizabeth returned the gesture, her heart swelling with pride. The guests whispered furiously, suddenly realizing that the woman Judith had just tried to humiliate was deeply respected by the highest levels of the military brass.

General Harrison turned his piercing gaze toward Judith, who was shrinking back into her pew. He did not lower his voice. He wanted everyone to hear.

"Ma'am, I suggest you show some respect to Lieutenant Colonel Vance," the General said, his voice echoing off the vaulted ceilings. "While you were planning country club galas, this brave woman was saving lives overseas. In fact, her bravery is the only reason your family still enjoys its current status."

Judith’s face drained of all color. "I... I don't know what you mean, General," she stammered, clutching her pearl necklace. "This is a private family affair. You have no right to interfere."

The General stepped closer, his expression grim. He reached into his formal coat and pulled out an official document. He looked around at the gathered family members, including Elizabeth’s sister, Clara, who was watching from the altar with wide eyes.

"I think it's time this family learned the truth," General Harrison announced. "Twenty years ago, when your late husband's business was on the brink of bankruptcy, it wasn't your inheritance that saved it. It was a secret government grant secured by Elizabeth's biological mother—a decorated veteran herself. Judith has been illegally funneling those funds into her personal accounts ever since, keeping Elizabeth completely out of her rightful share."
