Previously: When a mysterious woman interrupted my father's solemn memorial service, I thought it was a cruel prank. But the shocking document she held changed everything I knew about his sudden death.

The Unraveling Truth

Chaos erupted in the church. Whispers flared into loud demands for order, and two ushering staff members quickly moved to intercept the woman. But she bypassed them with a fierce determination, stepping directly into the altar space. I stood up, my heart pounding violently against my ribs.

"Who are you?" I demanded, my voice shaking. "How dare you disrupt my father’s memorial?"

The woman turned to me, her expression softening with genuine pity. "Sarah, my name is Dr. Clara Aris. I was your father’s primary care physician before Eleanor abruptly terminated my services three weeks before his passing. I’ve been trying to reach you, but your stepmother blocked my calls and barred me from the house."

"This is absurd!" Eleanor shrieked, her voice losing its polished veneer. "She is a disgruntled former employee! Security, throw her out immediately!"

But the security guards hesitated, sensing the gravity of the moment. Dr. Aris ignored Eleanor and opened the folder, holding out a series of medical documents to me. "Your father suspected something was wrong, Sarah. He privately sent me a blood sample just days before he died. The toxicology report came back after his funeral. He didn't die of natural causes."

I grabbed the papers, my eyes scanning the technical terms until they landed on a highlighted section. My breath hitched. "Digitalis toxicity," I read aloud, the words tasting like ash in my mouth. "But he was never prescribed this."

"Exactly," Dr. Aris said, pointing a finger at Eleanor. "Eleanor was slowly poisoning him, mimicking a heart condition so she could inherit his entire estate before he could finalize his new will—the one that left everything to you."

Eleanor lunged at me, her fingernails clawing to tear the papers from my hands. "You liar! You forged these! He loved me!" she screamed, her elegant facade completely shattered in front of hundreds of horrified onlookers.
