James walked out of the restaurant and sat across from Grace, introducing himself with a gentle smile. As Grace ate the warm meal, the first real food she had tasted in days, she found herself pouring her heart out. She told him about her husband, Mark, and how his wealthy, manipulative mother, Evelyn, had framed her for stealing a family heirloom to force her out. Mark had believed his mother's lies, freezing Grace out of their life and leaving her homeless and pregnant.

James listened with deep intensity, his expression hardening with quiet anger. But before he could offer his help, the screech of tires shattered the quiet evening. A sleek black luxury sedan pulled up to the curb. The doors flew open, and Mark and Evelyn stepped out. Evelyn’s eyes locked onto Grace, her face twisting into a sneer of pure disgust.

"Look at you, begging like a dog on the streets,"

Evelyn hissed, stepping up to the table. Mark stood beside her, looking at Grace’s pregnant belly with cold indifference. He pulled a thick legal envelope from his coat pocket and threw it onto the table.

"There is fifty thousand dollars in there, Grace. All you have to do is sign these papers relinquishing all parental rights to my child. You can't even feed yourself; you don't deserve to be a mother."

Grace felt the world spinning. The sheer cruelty of the ultimatum left her breathless. But before she could sink into despair, James stood up, his tall frame shielding Grace from her tormentors. Mark laughed mockingly.

"Who are you supposed to be? Her bodyguard? Mind your own business."

James didn't flinch. He looked past Mark, his eyes locking onto Evelyn with a cold, knowing smile.

"Actually, Evelyn, I think you know exactly who I am,"

James said quietly. Evelyn’s sneer instantly vanished. Her face drained of color, and she clutched her chest, trembling as she stared at James in absolute horror.
